Description
Print in reverse from etched plate. A procession of girls shown on right led by two men playing the flute and flagolet. On the left side of the composition are three men and a coach watching the girls. Printed in reverse below the scene are the words "There Was a long procession of school girls coming down North Street/ In Memory of/ Sarah Pierce/ Pioneer in The Higher Education of Women/ From/ 1792-1833." To the right of the title, printed in reverse, "James/ Calvert/ Smith/ 1932."
Comment
This print is from a plate etched by Bernhardt Wall of Lime Rock. The picture was executed by Calvert Smith on the Memorial to Miss Pierce on North Street.
