Description
White linen damask, rectangular tablecloth. Selvedge edge on two sides. Narrow folded hand-stitched hem on other two sides. Geometric triangular design with multiple striped border.
Provenance
The tablecloth was woven by Phoebe Curtiss (Mrs. Jason Curtiss) and is made from flax grown on the Blakeslee farm on Old Northfield Road in Northfield, CT. The flax was readied for weaving at an old mill on the stream at the property.
Comment
This tablecloth was used at the weddings of Emeline Curtis Gilbert (the donor's grandmother), Davida Blakeslee Foy in 1943, and Davida Foy Crabtree in 1972. All three weddings took place in Northfield, Connecticut.
