Description
Glazed earthenware cream pitcher used as a toy or play teaware. Off-white ceramic with brown transfer-printed decoration. Identical landscape scene on either side featuring two pagodas with a river or lake in front; two men seem to be rowing a boat on the water, in which stands a woman in a black dress and hat. Geometric and floral patterns around top rim, on handle, and on interior edge. Matches 2016-52-29, 30, 32-33.
Provenance
Belonged to Margaret Sargent Fisher, wife of Samuel H. Fisher, who grew up in New Haven in the 1870s-1880s. Later displayed in Babbitt home.
