Comment
Jabez McCall Camp (1811-1890) became a business partner of Asa Hopkins in 1832 in Hopkins production of woodwind instruments at his musical instrument factory in the Fluteville section of Northfield (Litchfield), Connecticut. After Hopkins left the business Camp became the main share holder and from 1837 to 1839 all instruments under production bore his makers stamp. In 1839 Camp sold the majority of his stock to Firth & Hall of New York, which by 1846 (then as Firth, Hall & Pond) owned all shares. Camp continued to work for them until 1841 when he retired from woodwind instrument making, and bought a grist and saw mill which he operated in the 1860s.
