Description
A - Hand fan with carved wooden sticks and silk feathers. Each stick is comprised of a lower section with pierced floral decoration, narrowing at the bottom where they are joined by a mother of pearl button and metal handle with silk cord and tassel. Above the decorated section, the sticks form narrow strips to which are attached individual pieces of brown silk, joined by brown thread. The first and last sticks have wider top sections with the same pierced floral design. The fan is sewn onto a gold felt and chipboard frame backing. B - Gilt wooden frame with rounded molding and a thin strip of decorated molding on the inside edge. Remnants of red paint on frame. Glazing had come loose, but has been repaired. Inside of frame stamped "MADE IN ITALY."
