Description
Oil on canvas painting of a cow herd in pasture. Black cow in profile in foreground, standing in tall grass with scattered flowers. Grassy field extends into middle ground, where ten other black and brown cows are grazing. Pasture falls away towards background, where a lake or pond is visible surrounded by trees. Leaves on some of the trees have changed color. Canvas is unframed, with paint continuing around edges where canvas is mounted to stretcher. Artist signature and title on reverse.
Provenance
Laurel Ridge is a family-operated farm in Northfield (Litchfield), Connecticut, raising grass-fed beef. The farm was founded by the artist's husband.
Comment
Joan Morosani studied at the University of Pennsylvania, the Art Student's League, and the National Academy (New York), and studied with several distinguished artists.
