Description
Cast iron mechanical bank featuring a dog, a circus performer with a hoop, and a barrel. Rectangular base, 1.75" tall, with raised lettered on front reading "TRICK DOG," painted red with yellow border. On top of the base is a small dog attached to a lever and spring mechanism that carries coins through the hoop held by a performer in red, yellow, and blue costume. The coins are then dropped in the brown barrel. Marked underneath base "PAT. July 31, 1888." The mechanism is visible through holes in the bottom plate. Coin slot is on top of the barrel.

Displayed and occasionally used in Sheldon Tavern by donor's husband's family.

Two later versions of this bank were later made by the Hubley Toy Company of Lancaster, PA.
