Description
Hand painted sign made from a cut log. Log cut flat on one side. Other side curved with bark still attached. "LITCHFIELD GARDEN CLUB" painted in center of curved side in yellow and black paint. On either side of text is painted a single bird - possibly each a woodpecker. The birds are executed in yellow, black, gray, and red paint.
Comment
This item was found in the basement of the donor's parents at 64 Prospect Street, Litchfield. Previous owners of the home include Laura Caldwell Bryant (1913-2004), a former member and president of the Litchfield Garden Club, and Mrs. George Richards, a member of the Litchfield Garden Club in the early 20th century.
