Description
Small china cabinet or cupboard, possibly made to hold toy dishes or teaware. Simply designed and shaped like a chest-on-chest, but with solid-front wooden doors. Raised on four short legs with simple trim along bottom and molding along top. The top and bottom compartments each have two interior shelves and two hinged doors with hook latches. The front of the cabinet is stained a dark red, with the sides and back having a more natural stain. The interiors are unfinished.
Provenance
Used to house the play teaware and dishes of Margaret Sargent Fisher, wife of Samuel H. Fisher, who grew up in New Haven in the 1870s-1880s. Later displayed in Babbitt home.
