Description
Tan bag of homespun linen. Flat with seams at bottom and along one side, hand-stitched hem at top. Linen tape ties attached at top-left. Hand lettering in dark brown ink, on front, "Lucretia Deming." Small repair with cotton patch completed at bottom of reverse.
Provenance
Presumably owned and used by Lucretia Deming (1804-1887) of Litchfield, CT. Deming attended the Litchfield Female Academy in 1816 and 1818-1819.

It is possible that the bag was used for collecting plant specimens
