Description
Box of assorted handmade and printer paper dolls and clothing items. The set contains one handmade boy doll, one handmade girl doll, two printed girl dolls cut from magazine or newspaper, five handmade suits or robes, seventeen handmade dresses, four handmade hats, one printed hat, and seven printed dresses. All of the handmade pieces are cut from a thick paper, like watercolor paper, and are decorated with pencil and watercolor. The printed pieces are also decorated with watercolor. The clothing pieces all have tabs for attaching them to a doll. Stored in a red, square box.
Provenance
Used by Eleanor Babbitt (1898-1994), whose brother married Samuel H. Fisher's daughter. Likely made with the assistance of a nanny or caretaker while Babbitt was in Colorado Springs or New York.
