Description
Early 20th-century tinplate passenger car, possibly made by Märklin. Rectangular car with eight square windows on each side, open exit at the front, hinged door at the rear, and open deck on the back complete with hinged gates. Car has a hinged top to reveal interior, which has two parallel benches running underneath the windows and two small, square compartments at opposite corners, each having a fixed door and small circular window. The benches have raised spikes on them, possibly for attaching passengers. The exterior of the car is painted blue with red and yellow details. Yellow lettering on each side reads "Royal Blue Limited." Metal steps and hookups for other cars at each end. Marked on bottom "Made in Germany" in red.
Provenance
Used and displayed in Sheldon Tavern. Donor believes they were played with in the attic, and belonged to Robert Lewis Fisher (1898-1977).
