Description
Jacket from a two-piece, side saddle riding habit of navy blue wool. Jacket with lapels, long sleeves, pockets and center-back double vents. Off-white lining with loop for hanging. Neck piece buttoned at interior left. Asymmetrical opening with two button closure. Off-white woven label at center-back with text, "Richards & Son/MANOR HOUSE/MARKET HARBOROUGH" and handwritten text "Miss Baker."
Provenance
Worn by Anne Lyon Haight (1890-1977) as part of riding ensemble. A photo in the LHS archives (2020-23-0) shows Anne in riding habit (2020-23-20,21) and hat (2020-23-22), holding crop (2020-23-24).
