Description
Large plastic scraper (ice scraper), produced as a promotional item for Weir's Motor Sales. Molded blue plastic with straight handle with rounded end, tapering slightly to a rounded neck. Square blade. Handle has a small hole at the end. Blade has a number of plastic teeth for scraping. Printed white lettering on blade, "When You Need This/You Need/Goodyear Winter Tires/WEIR'S MOTOR SALES/West St. - Ph. JO 7-8637/Litchfield Conn." White "Goodyear" logo at top left.
Provenance
The Weir family established a Ford dealership in Litchfield in the early 1920s, which by mid-century occupied a showroom on West Street. The business was later rebranded as Litchfield Ford.
