Description
Hand colored lithograph of a gentleman. The subject is standing beside a small circular table with his right arm out gesturing to the right. He is wearing trousers, vest, shirt, cravat ,and coat. Placed on the table under his left hand are a top hat and gloves. A walking stick is leaning against the table as well. Below the gentleman is printed "No. 121". Along the left side of the page is printed "A Morning or Business dress,/ of Philadelphia fashion for/ July 1830./ By Allen Ward."
Provenance
Allen Ward (1786-1862) was a tailor, inventor, and publisher in Philadelphia who produced fashion prints. He was succeeded by his two sons in 1839.
