Description
Black silk taffeta women's petticoat. Straight with pleated ruffle at hem. Center-back opening with five hooks and eyes. Flat pocket at front-left side.
Provenance
Descended in donor's family. Likely worn by Charlotte Disoway Gilbert (1837-1915) or Harriet Everest Haight (1843-1925). Gilbert's husband died in 1878, which is within the date range of the petticoat.

Possibly worn as a mourning garment.
