Description
Two identical pins. Round with straight back pin. Base of pins are metal with a top plastic coating that is blue with "TRANS-ATLANTIC FLIGHT/ 1ST/ JUNE 28TH 1939" printed in white around edges. Image of an airplane and monuments printed in white in center of pin.
Provenance
The donor's mother, Anne Lyon Haight, was a passenger on the first flight.
Comment
In 1939, Pan American began offering the first transatlantic passenger flights. The plane traveled between New York (denoted by the Trylon and Perisphere logo at the left, from the 1939 World's Fair in Queens, New York) and Marseille, France (denoted by the Eiffel Tower at the right).
