Description
Weathervane made of iron and copper. Base is a copper flashing box with an iron shaft emerging to ball, shaft, then cardinal points with diagonal braces. Flag has a stylized bird head with a double "XX" body and tail made of arrows - one up and one down. Fleur de lis at top.
Comment
This weathervane came from the 4th Congregational Church building in Litchfield, CT. It was acquired between 1931 and 1935 by Mr. and Mr.s Kenneth Boardman of Cold Spring Harbor, NY. Their daughter later donated the weathervane to the Nassau County Historical Society, who later donated it to the Litchfield Historical Society.
