Description
Rectangular linoleum sheet mounted to wood block. Cut image in linoleum depicting Colonial style house (center chimney) with multiple outbuildings at the left and right. Tree, fence, and vegetation in foreground. Carved in lower-left (backwards), "LPK." Typed label pasted on reverse, "Catlin-Warren House, Litchfield,/Conn., 1769-80. Built for Thomas/Catlin. Lived in for 50 years by family of Charles Hyde Warren. Sold/his son William L. Warren 1793./Linoleum and wood cut by Luman P./Kelsey, North Canton, Conn. 1957."
Provenance
Block shows the Thomas Catlin Jr. house on East Chestnut Hill in Litchfield, later owned by William L. Warren, who served as director of the Litchfield Historical Society. Descended in the family to donor.
