Description
Textile fragment of patterned velvet; straight selvage across top of fragment with rounded unfinished bottom. Red and tan woven floral patterns on tan background of linen weft and silk warp. Border at top of fragment features a wavy red line. Possibly used as a valance or other household textile, likely with fringe at the bottom.

Accession record indicates the piece is European in origin, likely from Genoa, Italy and dating to the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century.
