Description
Photograph of the second house (Stillman II) designed by Marcel Breuer for Mr. and Mrs. Rufus C. Stillman and located on Clark Road, Litchfield. Photograph shows the South Elevation of the one story house with its monumental field stone forecourt and foundation. The building is located in a meadow with a woodlot beyond to the North. Clumps of white and grey birch provide grace notes to the severe glass and masonry facade. A gravel drive is visible in the foreground. The photograph occupies a little over three quarters of the board. To the right below it is a title box which reads, "STILLMAN HOUSE" and below "MARCEL BREUER/ AND/ HERBERT BECKHARD/ ARCHITECTS." To the left a negative photostat of the rendered plan has been pasted to the board. Interior spaces are keyed numerically to the legend and plan of main floor is surrounded by topographical outlines. On the reverse is affixed a label with white letters on vermilion which reads, "JOSEPH W. MOLITOR/ Architectural and Industrial Photography/ 112 Pine Avenue. Box 349. Ossining, N.Y."
