Sketch of a landscape executed in charcoal. White house with dark roof, chimney, and small ell with chimney and lean-to in foreground. Three trees surround house with two more to the right and front. More trees seen in the distance. "CAHILL" signed in pencil below lower right corner.
Comment
The artist, Helen Cahill, was the daughter of Jane Antoinette Duffie Cahill, who moved to Litchfield with Helen in about 1900. Helen was a librarian at the Wolcott Library and worked at the Litchfield Savings Society. She married Sutherland Beckwith. In 1929 she died suddenly at the Torrington Hospital.
