Description
Rectangular vanity case belonging to Art Webster or his wife and used to store souvenirs from an Alaskan cruise in 1952. Rounded corners with leather trim stitched to box with tan thread. Exterior of box covered with dark blue paper textured to resemble leather. Brown plastic handle on top of hinged lid; gold metal clasp with sliding key lock on front. Interior of lid also lined with blue paper, with leather stitching visible. Off-white plastic clips hold a diamond-cut mirror at center of lid interior. Interior of case lined with textured gilt paper, color extremely faded.
Provenance
When donated, the box contained items 2017-11-74b - 2017-11-74k, most of which were souvenirs from the Websters' 1952 Alaskan cruise. It is unknown whether the vanity case was with them during the cruise, or used at a later date to store the souvenirs.
