Oil on canvas of Mabel Clark McNeil. Older woman in dark dress with white scarf or blouse at neck. White lace cap with bow/ties on right side on head. Large oval brooch at neck. Portrait executed from chest up. Dark background. Donated framed but has since been removed from frame.
Comment
Mabel Clark McNeill is the mother of Edwin McNeill who was instrumental in bringing the railroad to Litchfield. Mabel Clark married Isaac McNeil in 1810. They had four children. Mabel Clark McNeil was an avid gardener and designed the plantings of East Cemetery in Litchfield.
