Two covers for WAVES cap; flat oval tops with straight side and button hole on each side; attached to rest of cap with buttons; one cover is whtie cotton and the other dark blue wool
Comment
Belonged to Col. Raymond's sister Cmdr Grace Alison (Raymond) Lanier, who was one of the early WAVES officer candidates in 1942. While on duty in Cape May, NJ Naval Air Station, she developed a program of rehabilitation for hospital patients. This program was instituted by the entire Navy in WWII. Mrs. Lanier attained the rank of Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves after the war. She was the first woman officer to publish an article in the official professional journal "U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings"
