Description
Wallpaper scraps pasted onto cardboard, originally part of a bandbox, possibly the top, used as backing for an embroidery by Mrs. Sally (Sarah Phelps) Pierpont of Litchfield, CT, dated 1849 (CA1890-05-1). Pattern is block print of blue 12-petal flower, surrounded by a diamond shape of alternating horizontal and vertical white lines, interspersed with navy dot outlines of leaf forms. Along seam is border of larger flower.

This was used as a backing for a needlework picture completed by Mrs. Sally (Sarah Phelps) Pierpont (1766-1851) in 1849, at the age of 83 years (CA1890-05-1).
