Description
Doll comprised of bisque head, shoulders and arms. Inserted eyes, open mouth showing teeth and pierced ears. Blond hair wig with braid in back. The upper body is made of kid leather. The lower body is a frame work of wood and cardboard covered with stiff cotton which holds the mechanism inside. There are three wheels on the base of the doll which propels it. The wheels are driven by a spring which is wound by a key on the side. The "voice" is made by a lead box covered with leather on the opening and the spring drives air through the leather which makes a noise which sounds like "Mama" or "Papa" The doll is dressed is a polka dotted cotton dress with a panel of lace on the front and decorated with pink silk bows. She has a lace cap on her hhead. The earrings were given by Mrs. Avis Gardiner, a Stamford dealer who bought them in France.
