Sword has gilded handle and guard. Black leather grip and brown leather tassel. Blade of sword has decoration on handle - one side marked "J.A. Vanderpoel" and other side "N.Y." on other. "Ridabock & Co. NY" engraved at top of blade near handle. Scabbard silver metal with brass tip and two brass bands at intervals on scabbard, brass rings attached to bands
