Comment
This was likely owned and possibly made by Thomas Trowbridge (1764-1837) who moved to Litchfield from West Haven around 1791. He worked as a shoemaker and had a tannery on his property, the Abraham Bradley house on West Street. He was a deacon at the First Congregational Church and was one of the earliest members of the Litchfield Temperance Society. The bucket may also have belonged to his son, Thomas Trowbridge (1787-1850), who lived in Litchfield and worked in the tannery for a time.
