Description
Doll furniture set in original box Box is pine wood with the sides pegged with wooden pegs and covered with marble paper. The lid slides in grooves cut at top. Paper label on lid showing images of different doll furniture and word "Moebelment B. No. 1" Furniture includes - four side chairs with upholstered seats, fabric is a white cotton with blue irregular lines and gold embossed strips for tacks; one oval top table, grained; one square top table, grained; one sofa, upholstered in same material as chairs with one bolster (second bolster missing); one foot stool with upholstery on top.
Comment
This set was brought from Paris, France by Matthew Vassar, founder of Vassar College, about 1861 and given to the donor's mother.
