Description
Red wool tail coat with black stand up velvet collar, lapels, and cuffs; lapels tacked down with pewter buttons and gold colored cord; sleeve cuffs also decorated with buttons and braid; most of the interior is lined with a glazed linen; back of the neck is decorated with the velvet that comes down in a V with cord and button decoration; lower back and tails decorated with more velvet cord and buttons; two pockets fastened and decorated with buttons and cord; jacket closes with hook & eyes

worn by Edward Hopkins before 1830; he played an Asa Hopkins clarinet in a Litchfield band; he was at one time engaged in the manufacture of wooden clocks near Campville
