Portrait of Jeremiah Gates Brainard. He is centrally placed with a nondescript dark background. He is dressed in colonial looking costume of blue jacket with four large buttons, a light yellow vest with seven buttons and a white cravat possibly representing lace.
Comment
Brainard was a Judge of the Superior Court in CT from 1806 to 1829; he was Mayor of New London, CT from 1805 to 1828 and father of John Gardiner Brainard, the poet.
