Description
Cherry lowboy. Heavy pad feet. Very stiff cabriole legs with heavy round knees. Back very plain. Sides plain with skirt cut out of 1/4 round at side and flat top. Front skirt with arch, demi-lune drop, shallow arch center with chipwork outline and across base of demi-lune. Single drawer 8 3/4" high x 27" wide x 16 1/2" deep. Front "trompe l'oeil" - appears to be four separate drawers but is actually one large drawer. Small fan carved with larger fan gouged out at bottom center of drawer.
Comment
The piece was purchaed by T.D. and C.R. Williams from a family in Woodbury who have lived in Woodbury and Newtown since the 1740s.
