Description
Box with oval white base with c-scroll swags in white on stipple blue background. Lid is domed with fruit and leaf finial in white, and four swag-drapery effects in white over stipple blue. Called "Oriental" design. Parian ware was made extensively in England (Copeland's, etc.) to imitate Parian marble. Especially effective for small portrait busts. This box was imitating Wedgwood in color, but has integral molded white motifs rather than sprigged-on motifs.
