Description
Oil on canvas painting of apple trees in full bloom. Several trees with pink blossoms on branches. Green grass, white farm buildings in background, blue sky. Very soft color palette. Framed in gold wooden frame.
Provenance
The painting was originally attributed to a Bennett W.T. Amsden, b.1955. Accession records contain no information regarding this individual or why the attribution was made. Comparison of this painting to works by William King Amsden, sometimes stylized as Willian T. King Amsden, led to a reattribution of the painting in 2022. The Society's collection also has a portrait attributed to Amsden (see 1918-06-2).
Comment
According to the accession book, Amsden lived in Litchfield for several years.
