Description
Trunk, of black leather, studded with brass nails, domed lid, opening to interior with secret compartment inside lid covered by wooden flap.
Comment
The trunk belonged to Charles Perkins (1792-1856) of Litchfield and Norwich. Graduate of the Litchfield Law School, married Clarissa Deming in 1817, the daughter of Julius Deming. Probably used for business travel of personal papers; Perkins was a land speculator.
