Description
Long rectangular brass sign; etched into sign "The/Litchfield Savings Society/Est. 1850" with two holes in each corner for hanging.
Comment
This sign was on the Savings Society building (located between the jail and the bank) until the building was bought by the First National Bank of Litchfield in 1965. The sign was removed and given to Mr. Baldwin, the caretaker of the Savings Society building when he retired. Mr. Baldwin and his wife had lived in the building. Mr. Baldwin pre-deceased his wife, the sign was sold at a tag sale after her death and purchased by the donors.
