Description
Over mantel of white painted wood. Heavy deep frame with broken scroll pediment at top. Egg and dart freeze molding with egg and dart frame on portrait. Side molding in square and rounds, 2 1/2" wide. Painting is oil on canvas of John Williams Quincy, an ancestor of Mary Perkins Quincy. Man dressed in early to mid 18th century style clothing leaning on a ledge with a broken column behind him.
Comment
This overmantel hung in Mary Perkins Quincy's house on Prospect Street in Litchfield. It was originally loaned to LHS in 1974 and formally gifted in 1975.
