Description
Oblong. Breadboard top with split in it and a thin triangular repair piece. The right-angle pieces are pegged at the ends. Deep skirt pegged to legs with turned ring and concave baluster turnings, squared section with stretchers champhered in. Ring and ball feet.
Comment
Belonged to Archelus Buell, ca. 1720, and descended through the Buell and Perkins family to Mr. William Mitchell Van Winkle. Line of descent is as follows - Archelus Buell to his son Norman Buell to his son Norman Buell, Jr. To his daughter Lucretia Buell Barber to her daughter Amelia Buell Barber Perkins to her son Edwin B. Perkins to his son Edwin B. Perkins, Jr. The table was in the Perkin's house which was built in 1857 on the site of the original Archelus Buell farmhouse. In 1951 the Perkin's house was owned by Austin Purves.
