Description
A: Fan with silver handle with gilt. Two silk cords with tassel in ivory. Mother of pearl button at bottom of stretchers. Ivory sticks in asymmetrical design. Each stick has heavily carved design that create an overall pattern when fan opened. Terminating stick runs length of fan and is also heavily carved. Body of fan made of white silk. Painted design of bird on branch on silk. B: Inner Box - Paper box with blue and black brocade trim, interior has fitted holder for fan with red paper liner. Glass top. C: Outer Box - Black lacquer box with curved sides. Painted in gold on sides are floral sprays. Top panel has painted scene of Chinese court in gold lacquer. Metal push button and 2 hinges to open lid. On the inside of the top is painted design of fruit, flowers and bird on blue silk, red paper liner.
