Description

White square table cover or mat - elaborate design of white work embroidery and lace. Center has circular medallion of whtie mull with white work in floral design. Lace border around center. Remaining body of mat net with insertions of white mull with embroidery, lace work of embroidery directly onto net. Done in a pattern - white work mull pieces appear to be reused scraps. Lace border with polka dot pattern around body of mat.

Sold to donor by the New York agent of the Society "Autour de Foyer" during World War I to benefit poor during the conflict. Made by a French lady from her old lace caps.
