Navy blue light weight wool W.A.V.E.S. (Women Appointed for Volunteer Emergency Service) dress jacket; four brass buttons down front; two false breast pockets - flaps only; small lapel, rounded collar; three horizontal gold braid bands around lower arms with gold cord stars just above; rayon lining; inside pocket on upper left side; two lapels on inside of jacket - at neck "Tailor Brooke" and on inside right side "Customed by Tailor Brooke"

Belonged to Col. Raymond's sister, Cmdr Grace Alison (Raymond) Lanier, who was one of the early WAVES (Women Appointed for Volunteer Emergency Services) officer candidates in 1942. White on duty in Cape Map, NJ Naval Air Station she developed a program of rehabilitation for hospital patients. This program was instituted by the entire Navy in WWII. Mrs. Lanier attained the rank of Commander in the U.S. Naval reserve after the War. She was the first woman officer to publish an article in the offical professional journal "U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings"
