Description
A sextant is an astronomical instrument used to determine latitude and longitude at sea by measuring angular distances, esp. the altitudes of sun, moon, and stars. Brass instrument - two arms which are hinged together at one end. An arched piece connects the two arms at the other end and allows one arms to swing up and down the arched piece. Housed in a wooden carrying case.
