Object Name
Water Tank Fragment
Object Number
1999-11-1
Description
Section, or fragment, of the original Litchfield water tank. The fragment is extremely heavy. This fragment has uneven, ragged edges. Two-thirds of the fragment is composed of one piece of steel. The remaining third is a seperate section of steel that has been riveted to the first, to create a sealed overlap. Four bolt, or rivet, heads and backs are visible. The tank was painted gray inside and outside at some point, probably to seal the steel. Some old areas of rust are visible. This fragment was varnished at some point before it came to the museum, probably to prevent deterioration.
