Description
The small silk banner suspends from a gilt dowel. A bust of a male figure is featured in the top two-thirds of the banner. He is hand painted with watercolor, and the colors are still vibrant. His clothing is painted in reds and yellows. The figure wears a white beaver-style hat with a black band. The hat has "Hose 3" written on it. He has a mustache and a cigar in his mouth. Painted below him on the silk are the words "LVFA/Field Day/Sep 23rd 1891." The silk is edged and embellished with brass cord that is draped in two swags across the top of the banner, centered with an embroidered star. The ends of the cord hang on either side freely and end in tassels. The bottom of the banner is cut to hang in three points and edged with brass fringe. The peaks of the points are centered with two embroidered stars made of thin brass cord and brass sequins. The frame is contemporary to the banner, and echos the overall shape of the banner.
