Description
Pointed, ovoid bowl hammered out, by mold. Narrow, semi-circular cross-section that widens into fiddle back, downturning handle. Most likely made from strip of sheet silver. "1818" inscribed on reverse of fiddleback handle; monogram "DB" on handle. Very thin silver and therefore susceptible to distortion by bending. "DB" stood for Dianthe Bissell who married Garwood Sanford in 1820 by Lyman Beecher.
