square wooden box with flip top lid with decorative brass hinges and a hook closure device, Inside a recessed circular hole covered with glass with a rim of brass. At the bottom of the recess a piece of paper with black ink with the markings of the compass points and directions, 2 dials of blued metal affixed at center point. .
