Description
Game of jackstraws (also known as pick up sticks). The game is housed in a wood box made of curly maple. Box has a lid that slides on and off. Lid is lined with paper. Game pieces made of bone. There are thirty-nine sticks total, in a variety of shapes including tridents, spears, arrows, hooks, swords, and shovels. The game also includes two small wooden dice.
Comment
This set of jackstraws was purchased by Margaret Fisher in the 1910s or 1920s. The game was used in the Fisher's home, Sheldon Tavern, on North Street in Litchfield, Connecticut.
