Description
White men's tuxedo shirt. Sheer patterned weave with ribbing. Pleated front panel with one button at neck and buttholes for studs; tab at center-front for buttoning to trousers. Shirt collar, long sleeves with French cuffs. White woven label with red lettering at center-back, "Saks Fifth Avenue." Stamped size at center-back left, "16/32"; white woven label on right-front inside, "Dupont Dacron"; stamped laundry mark on left bottom.
Provenance
Belonged to Winthrop Hiram Smith (1893-1961), who married Vivian G. (Brown) Smith (1903-1996) in 1947. In 1948, the couple purchased a farm property in Litchfield, naming it Winvian after their combined names. Their son and daughter-in-law expanded the farm into a boutique hotel.
