Description
Matte finish bronze wall medallion plaque with rough finish back and hanging ring. Front has full face bust portrait of subject. Across top "EDGAR ALLAN POE." Across lower middle "MDCCCIZ MCMIX," the numerals for 1809 and 1909. The circular crest with wreath surround to the right of Poe is the seal of the Grolier Club of New York, who likely had the plaque produced. According to sources, the club cast 277 plaques in bronze and 3 in silver, and the plaques were cast by Roman Bronze Works, New York.
